Continu-Ed Behavior Seminars
. Common Behavior Problems in Pets: How to Recognize, Correct, and Prevent Common Behavior Problems. (6 hours)
The #1 cause of pet loss is bad behavior and the #1 cause of injury in the hospital is aggression (bites and scratches) due to pets. This seminar is geared towards teaching attendees simple methods for creating patients who love their veterinary visits, happily cooperate for their treatments, and adjust well to living in a world with their humans. Attendees will gain an understanding of how animals learn and what motivates their behavior. Dr. Yin will show them how to recognize brewing behavior problems that need to be addressed and how, without this knowledge, hospital staff can accidentally make behavioral issues worse. Then attendees will learn two simple techniques that can be used during routine handling as well as in paid preventive or fix-it technician behavioral health sessions to address these behavioral issues. Lastly, the seminar will reveal 10 principles of handling that will greatly improve efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and lower the stress levels of both humans and pets when dealing with animals in any handling situation. Through a combination of vivid examples, colorful photos, and extensive video clips Dr. Yin will provide attendees with an understanding and set of skills they can use immediately and on a daily basis in their practice. For a preview of her teaching style, go to www.AskDrYin.com and watch the videos, read the articles, and see what attendees of seminars have to say.
